Hydraulic adapters

The part that exists because nothing is ever all one standard. Most machines carry ORB ports on the components and JIC or ORFS ends on the hoses — something has to convert between them.

Standard conversions we build most

Why the adapter is usually the part that fails a first order

Two standards can share a thread size without being interchangeable. JIC -06 and ORB -06 are both 9/16-18 UNF, but one seals on a 37° cone and the other on an O-ring against a boss face. Screwing one into the other threads perfectly, seals not at all. This is covered in JIC vs SAE. If you are rebuilding a mixed-standard machine, send us the list and we will specify every adapter rather than have you work it out line by line.

Materials and coatings

Carbon steel with zinc plating as standard; zinc-nickel or heavier zinc for corrosive environments; 316 stainless for aggressive fluids and marine; brass for air and water duties. Machined from bar or forged, depending on size and volume — tell us if a forged body matters to you and we will quote it that way.

Normalising a mixed-standard BOM

The most useful thing we do for distributors is turn a mixed-standard parts list into a single specification: every line gets a standard, a thread size, a material and a part number that can be re-ordered without re-measuring. Send the list in whatever shape it is in — photos of the parts with measurements are fine — and we return the classified version with prices.
